Back to school

Buying a new pencil case, looking for that perfect rucksack , new socks... these are the things I used to hunt for when I went to school . And even as a teacher I still find myself glancing in the shops for these things now.

That "back to school" feeling has never quite left me . And I suppose with my current day job the feeling continues. It is often at this time I reflect on what has gone before and what could happen next. I like September as it can become a second chance to make new year resolutions.

When I look back over the last two months, I have been able to do more than I had anticipated. Organised two gigs and took part in a third gig (Women Do South Festival) .

This was all a learning experience- organising places, people and food! However, more importantly I got to be re-acquainted with my songs. I had not played them very much in the preceding months so it was like meeting old friends when I rehearsed them.

As a new term begins, there could be more to come. And although it is a slightly terrifying prospect it is also really exciting. I am learning about how to get gigs, how to promote myself and also how my songs work in a live space. For these opportunities I am grateful. What school lessons are you going to learn in this new term? What back to school moments are you having?

As for resolutions for this year 2021-2022, I want to resolve to embrace the moment, enjoy the small beginnings and listen to others, myself and seek good advice.

Thank you to those who have already given me their encouragements and I hope to hear from you soon,

Keep me posted.
